Eh, I actually liked Cookie Clicker better. But this is kinda like cookie clicker... on the android.
The last game, you could buy what you needed, and then go back to doing things and not have to click. While that is also true with this one, if you don't tap, you get considerably less cookies. Clickers give .1 cookie a second, and grandma's only get 2 cookies a second. Certainly makes you want to spend more to get them.
The upgrades happen too often, and help out faaar too much. Giving tons of cookies an increasd cps. Making the act of purchasing the upgrade less appealing. Of course, this beta /does/ seem to focus more on the need to tap, instead of the ability to mass produce. Super Cookies appear, and can summon more super cookies, giving the game less of an edge, and more of a child-like appeal.
This game really isn't all too fun. I stopped playing Cookie Clicker already. Now to stop playing Cookie Tapper.

What the Fuck is Cookie Clicker?
Cookie Clicker was brought up to me by a friend, she loves to play it. So, I decided to find out what it is. It's... ok.
You start off clicking a cookie. But like Farmville, you can keep clicking, and make more and more cookies. Making cookie farms, and cookie factories, etc. It's a time waster, but it's interesting enough. The faster you click, the more cookies you get. The more cookies you get, the more upgrades you can get to get more cookies.
This game is ok. I probably won't play it again after today, but it is ok. It makes me want to see how many cookies I can get before I grow tired of it. The good news, is that after you buy factories, you just sit back and wait as the cookies just flow into your lap. You don't even have to stay on the same page. Just leave and come back. You only have to click on it if you want to make cookies faster. As of right now, I make 822 cookies a second.
I think that anyone who wants to play it, should. But it's one of those things you do when you are bored and have nothing else to do with your life, like the all (in)famous Iwastesomuchtime.com.

Okami First Thoughts
Not to be a Plothole Nazi, but....
In the beginning story, the monster is in a cave, but after the dark clouds dissipated the moonlight was reflected off his blade? Inside the cave? When did the dark clouds get there? Since when was the monster's power trapped inside the blade? When did this happen?
Aside from that, this game was a battle sequence that might be better suited for the DS, but whatever. It works for the PS3, and that is how I am playing it. It's fun, and very Zelda-esque. The graphics are more comic-drawn like, kinda like Zelda: The Wind Waker. But that does not take away from the action involved. I like the fact that plants literally grow while she is walking.
The "voices" when they talk are a little bit... grating. Ok, a LOT grating. I hate it when they talk. The dialogue is ok, but ew.
Also, it's one of those "randomly meet an artist, but luckily, all the powers on this game revolve around drawing." cliche's. But hey, Zelda.
I'll write the full review when I beat this one.

Journey Review
Oh My GOD! This is the most cinematically and graphically gorgeous game I have ever played! Coming from a game sponsored by Dolby and dts, it makes me believe this game was created to test out video software. Some areas of this game are so beautiful that you just want to pocket some of that glittering sand. And to make it all better, it changes color! Blues, greens. whites, pinks, and oranges! When you are going to the end of the game, you can literally see changes happening to their robes. The cold of the mountain is freezing them. Their symbols get weaker, and weaker, and their walking slows, and you just feel so sorry for them.
This game is lacking in dialogue, so you only know what is going on from the short scenes shown to you via magical cave writings. Why are you going on this journey? Who are those giant white robed things? What is the purpose of it all? Good questions, ummm....
The storyline seems to be as follows. You start out as a.... robed... person? Let's just go with that. You see this mountain with a light pillar shooting out of it. So you decide to travel there. Along the way, you meet another character, who you suspect, but find out in the end credits, that they are in fact real players. Humanity(?) has overused their powers and died out because of it, causing the world to fall into disarray, and lifeless planet of sand. Like Wall-E, or The Lorax, or Munto, or- well, you get where I am going with this.
So because of humanity you are going to the mountain to.... well... nothing changes in the end of the game. It's still a deserted wasteland. So the whole point of this all was....? Oh who cares, it's fucking GORGEOUS!!! This game will definitely take you on a magic carpet rid- *shot*
This game is rather short, so you don't have a lot of time to take it all in. But it is so beautiful that you don't really care.
I'd recommend this game to anyone, so play it up! It's 15 dollars, but I think it was rather well spent.

Conchita Wurst
I wonder why I have never heard about her until now?
Conchita Wurst identifies as gender neutral, but prefers female pronouns. She has a very interesting appearance of a bearded lady, which she states is to help her get attention, and to preach tolerance and acceptance despite differences. The beard really grasps one's attention when combined with a very feminine, fashionable appearance. I think it is wonderful that she is actually able to be herself and not simply be killed off because of it, like in some other states, and yes, I am talking about you Africa and Saudi Arabia!
She is also not a bad singer. In fact, if you were just listening to her voice, she sounds exactly like a deep voiced female. Not just someone with a headvoice trying to sing in falsetto, she literally sounds like a female! Don't believe me? Hear for yourself!
She is not the only one who is cashing out through gender nonconformity in the music industry. In fact, singers such as Bell Nunita, Nick Pitera, and even Lady Gaga dressed up for awhile as a guy named Joe Calderone.
I think that this is a great thing that is happening though. Because gender is in no way, and will never be, binary. So showing that more and more in the most influential culture in the world, the music industry, shows that we are advancing as a whole. I like Conchita, and I believe that anybody who can look past her differences will either like her or be indifferent.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night Review
This is a pretty interesting game. And has made me believe that Castle of Darkness for the Android is simply a parody of it. I like the fluidity of this game, and the hack and slash aspect.
Most of this game does not tell you how to do anything, like, at all, ever. So that part definitly annoys me. There are no explanation, no reasoning, and no direction. Nothing in this game refers for you to go back to any other part, and you literally have to find it all out for yourself. Or else use a walkthrough, but psssh, walkthroughs are for pussies (I'm a pussy). At least games like Devil May Cry told you what to do in the form of "missions."
I do like how they give you a savepoint with very few enemy encounters near a boss, so you will be ready when you fight them. And I also like how the savepoints refill your HP for you as well.
Is this game fun? Fuck yes, it's fun! Is it annoying, and downright frustrating at times? Fuck yes! When this game is good, it's great! When it sucks, oh god, it sucks! For example, the spoken dialog. You couldn't have gotten anyone who knew how to voice act? No one at all? I'd prefer it if there was no spoken words. The graphics in this game are pretty damn good for what it is. The movement is fluid, and in some scenes, you actually see objects, like a clock tower, change angles as you are walking.

It's annoying that you cannot sell or get rid of any of your items. I mean, what the hell am I supposed to do with 8 cloth tunics? My inventory is getting fuller and more crowded, and there is nothing I can do about it but organize it.
There are some skills that you will only use once in the whole game, like the sonar ability as the bat. Of course, like I mentioned previously, the the game does not tell you you need it or where it could be... sigh... other abilities are useless, unless you want to use it. Like the Power of Mist.
Also, this game seem to make it so that the closer you are to finishing it, the more over-powered you are. I am in the catacombs and the badguys rarely take of more than 1 hp. Water used to hurt you, now you can breath underwater. Spikes used to hurt you a LOT, now there is Spike-breaking armor! Need money? There is a sword that turns monsters into jewels to sell! And let's not even get into the over-power Familiars give you.
At the same time, when you get to the Inverted Tower, the bad guys are now waaaaaay overpowered. Like SHIT overpowered. They used to take only a few HP from you, now it's like, 58 in a single blow! what the shit! Not like the game tells you where to go or anything. Trial and error!
The bosses were not all that hard, and the final boss was actually pretty easy. One would think that they'd make it a little harder for you. But oh well.
Altogether, the game is fun, time-consuming, and for the most part, awesome. It'd fare better with more explanation and better voice actors, but for the most part, it's not bad for a hack and slash. There were some parts that frustrated me to no end, but still, I'd recommend this game for anyone to play if they desire.

Devil May Cry = Castlevania?
They apparently come from two different companies, and one would not think that they are connected in any way, except... they are very similar games. The stories are about these son's of a devil/vampire, or some other similar fate (cursed, etc) who is trying to take down the evil forces. They both wield swords and even the enemies are similar. Judging by SOTN and DMC 1, evil puppets, ghost skulls, one would think someone is ripping off ideas from the other.
They are both hack and slash games with a dark macabre surrounding. And neither seem to want to tell you what the fuck is going on, how what things even do.
I like both games, and started playing them both just recently, and couldn't help but realize this obvious similarity.

Look Better with the Lights Off
Ouch...
Now if he were to say that he likes the sex better with the lights off, that'd be a different story. But he did not say that. He said that she /looked/ better with the lights off. So you can't really take away from the context of what what he is saying and implying.
But, of course, this is a rap song. So I never expect much from them. I just thought that this was a funny sounding song.
There is one song that is similar in funny. You're my Favorite Mistake
"I hope you don’t take this the wrong way"Is there a right way to take that? Is she supposed to think you meant something else? Am I missing something here?
"You’re a dime, so beautifulYou're beautiful, I just don't want to look at you while I'm having sex. It's nothing personal, just a butterface.
Top of the line, so unusual
Words can’t define,
You’re running through my mind all day (day)
I’m so happy you’re mine"
"I just wanna see you with the lights offOh ok, I understand. You just want to think of someone else while you do me. That's reasonable, right?
Every guy wanna know how it is
To clap off the lights and turn Khloe to Kim"
"Acting too happy saying she ain't going back homeTime limits. That's one way to show a girl you really think she is hot.
I'm like wow, whatever you say,
But whatever you plan gotta be done at eight"

RWBY, First Thoughts Episodes 1-14
The first episode got over 64,000 likes on Facebook, while the 13th only got a mere 6,000, and episode 12, less than that. If you simply look at the Red trailer on YouTube, it got over 5 million views, and while the first episode got only a little over 1 million views, episode 2 got 800,000. And by the time you get to the 10th video, it only has around 270,000 viewers. It seems that this show is having some issues with holding a fan base.
The graphics are ok, the battles are not very often, and more often then not you are spending entire 7 minute long episodes talking about a characters troubles, which, unshockingly, gets resolved easily and quickly with no messy residue. Weiss and Ruby had it out for each other, especially after Ruby got made into the leader. But after one talk to both characters, they are best of buds!
Juane is wimpy and gets bullied by someone in episode 11-14 but is stereotypically too masculine to ask for help. Everyone else in this entire academy of fighters do NOTHING to stop the bullies. Then Juane gets blackmailed into being the bullies servant, and they go to do something bad. Juane says no, bully gets upset. Fight scene, Juane saves bully, and bully stops bullying. Do I even need to mention this as a cliche'? In fact, it's also noted in a few episodes of Accel World, and almost every show that features a school.
The characters are pretty diverse. From the silent type who are very powerful, to the incredibly intelligent and not quick-witted, to the very hyperactive and talkative. There is in fact good characters in here. My favorite is Blake, mainly because she acts a lot like me. High endurance, fast, reads a lot, is silent, but is also not a full introvert. She seems to be able to interact well with her teammates.
The show itself, outside of the battle scenes, seems to me to be a little too animated. Like, the drawing style is not a good style to use if your show is going to be that animated. The "cloud of smoke" arguments and the "evil thoughts" trope, as well as the "popping here and there when talking" sequence. Not good, in my opinion, with that form of art style.
I think this show went downhill from the moment episode 2 started. This is a FIGHTING school, monsters and death around every corner in the outside world. They behead giant birds and stab snakes in the eye with their own fang for crying out loud! You would think that they would have more pressing issues then a school bully, or jealousy over who was made team leader. Or if so, show it with a little more tact. Harry Potter dealt with both of these issues very well, this show made it a little too childish. The battle scenes are great! But the rest of the storyline... wait, what was the storyline again?
But despite the criticism, I watched all the episodes without having a huge desire to click away. And when it was awesome, it was awesome! So I have can't give this show a bad rating. But it does need work.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, First Thoughts
W-wait, what's happening? Why am I in the final stage? How do I attack? Can I use magic? Boss battle? WTF!?!?! Explain game!
The fighting ability of this game is pretty cool. The dialog is... well... the fighting ability is pretty cool! You then start out again as some whitehaired guy who is super powerful. But why is he in the castle? Is he a good guy? He soon meets death, but instead of killing you, takes away all of your equipment??? Why did he do that? Explain please!
You keep traveling in the castle, how do you access the menu? What is Heart? Why are the monsters after you? How do I save? How do I work this thing? Do these collasping skeletons ever die? Care to elaborate? Am I just going to have to figure it all out myself through trial and error? EXPLAIN!
Oh fuck it! I guess I am just going to be left in the dark here.
The gameplay is fun, but if the only context you are going to have is going to be vauge, than why have any at all? I'll review this more later when I beat it, but aside from that, I am not too impressed.

Alundra, First Thoughts
This game is not bad for an early PS1 game. Not much of a storyline so far though. I was on this boat for no reason, getting chastized by all these sailors, and then I sleep, The boat capsizes, and I am the only survivor. GAME START! Wait, what? hat just happened? Who were those people? Were the pirates? sailors? Whay were they traveling? Why are you with them? What's up with your dreams? huh?
Good Samaritan Cliche. You get found in the shipwreck as the only survivor and is taken care of by a nice guy and all of the villagers who love you and completely trust you.
You run into a guy who is a scholar and he knows more about you then you know about yourself, and tells you about these powers you never knew you had. Apparently you can delve into other people's dreams and memories.
So the town in inflicted with issues involving sleep. And you must go into other peoples dreams to cure them of their ailments.
The fighting style isn't bad, and is basically the main reason why I bought this game. Hack and slash. The dialog isn't too bad either. But the game so far does seem to be missing a sense of direction. It also is missing a since of subtle clarification and explanation like the Ys games, so you don't entirely know what you are doing. Or where to go to do it. They give you more vauge directions. Which of course helps you to explore, but in this world, there really isn't much to explore. It's not as if the games are giving you chests filled with treasures or armor. Just herbs and some coins. Not a very good reason to want to explore.
But I'll review this game in full when I beat it, so look for ward to that

Five Problems with Modern Videogames: YouTube Video Review.
In all actuality, a lot of the points he makes are rather valid points. Granted, the way he talks makes it seem like he honestly didn't care much to research much of the information, but this is a YouTube video, what do you expect?
Like I said, what can you expect? |
1. They're All the Same!
This actually is pretty true in this day and age. Everyone is racing to create games that people will buy, and in the process, you have a ton of games that are only different in minute ways. Mass Effect, Medal of Honor, Halo, Dead Space, Silent Hill, basically any game you can shorten into "You have to survive by mass murdering" (the main difference is who you are killing. Zombies, Infected, Monsters, or Soldiers. In some cases it's soldiers that get infected and turn into a monster that is referred to as a mutated zombie.)
2. They Treat You Like You Are an Idiot!
While it is true that many games will go over the basics and gross detail as if you will never figure out how to turn and walk on your own. I also find it annoying when games give you no instruction at all. Basically making you fend for yourself in a world that can kill you at every turn. Minimaps are good, I never have any issue with them, but it's true that if you want mire of a challenge, these minimaps are pointless.
3. They are Too Focused on Realistic Graphics!
Again, I agree with this point. Games nowadays care more about looking great then having a good storyline.... well, with the exception of:
To The Moon
Fez
Cave Story
Chantelise
HammerWatch
Ittle Dew
Thomas Was Alone
UnEpic
The Binding of Issac
Etc
And yes, I know that all of these are Indie Games, but they are popular, and they are games. Now most Platformer games do in fact care more for graphics. From FPS's, to now how Pokemon is becoming. Why in the world does Pokemon need better graphics? All the games are basically the same, albeit location and Pokemon selection.
4. They're all Boring!
He says this because all the gameplay is the same. Kill random badguys for no reason, then cutscene. Rinse, Lather, Repeat. Even in RPG's, they rarely explain to you why you are killing these random bad guys, or why the bad guys suddenly decided to target you. Or how everyone else in the world are completely oblivious to the existence of these bad guys. Examples are Zelda, Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Atelier Iris, Mana Khemia, and Wild Arms.
And with many games, like Ys, and Devil May Cry, never mention or refer to the millions of monsters you are destroying. As if the story and the gameplay are two entirely different things. And in many cases, they are. Certain games are able to play the role of battles into the main storyline setting. In Pokemon, you have to train to become the Pokemon master, which explains why you keep running into random animals out of nowhere, and why they all attack you for apparently no reason. It's the trainer that initiated the battle, tossing the pokeball to release a Pokemon before the battle even gets started.
Other games, like Final Fantasy and Breath of Fire, have a level up system, but that system plays no role in the storyline at all. They are random monsters, from globs of jelly, to ghosts, there for the sole purpose to raise your level so you can progress farther in the storyline easier.
5. Not Challenging
Depends on the game. There are many games that I play that really challenge me. Devil May Cry is the most current one. But there are also Dust, Chantelise, Mark of the Ninja, Sly Cooper, and the all famous Zelda and Mario series. There is plenty out there to get the adrenalin pumping, and has nothing at all to do with FPS's.
Now I will not deny that there are some games out there that are not very challenging. To The Moon, Final Fantasy 7, and Ys 1 are a few of them. Although, to be honest, To The Moon is basically not much of a game, as it was an interactive story. But just because the game did not challenge me did not automatically eliminate how fun it was. I play Atelier Iris, Final Fantasy, and Ys more for the story than the actual gameplay, but that's just me.
Conclusion
What I am trying to say, is that while a lot of these are accurate, he seems to be biased towards shooters, and ignores all other game genre's. This could have been better as a video regarding flaws in many modern games if he used more examples of modern games, and not just sticking to First Person Shooters. Because many games break these boundaries. Granted in this day in age, that is few and far inbetween, but it still happens all the time. Examples?
Remember Me
Portal
Dust: An Elysian Tail
Journey
Fez
And I am not that much of a gamer. And I can list tons of games in here. But like I said before, what can you expect from a YouTube video?

Breath of Fire 6 -__-
Breath of fire 1-4 featured excellent storylines, great gameplay mechanics, etc. I loved the series. Then the failure of a game Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter came along and broke it. Then 11 years of silence. Pure silence. Then suddenly, cheaply made android game!
This Breath of Fire is the only one that is going to be missing a roman numeral in the title. BOF I-V were all roman numerals, now 6. Shatter it, why don't ya.
Granted, I'd play it. It's looks interesting enough from simply this picture to make me want to at least try it out and give an honest review. But this is not Breath of Fire. That better not be Ryu, because Ryu had blue hair! Well...
Except for the wanna-be on the right. |
But as I said, I like android hack and slash games, I just don't think this is going to compare at all with the previous four games... and I guess Dragon Quarter.
Devil May Cry, Second Thoughts
Still not a bad game, I have been playing it for over 3 hours of gameplay. The bosses are rather tricky, which is good, because I enjoy a good challenge. But one thing strikes at this game: Repetition.
Fight boss-like monster, obtain item. use item, releases boss-like monster, time limit! hurry up before it expires! The constant item to item with no real reasoning as of /why/ we are getting them, or how to know what the fuck we are doing, reminds me of the Zelda side quests. Item item exchanged for another, and another, then another. No true reasoning as of why, your only inkling of what to do comes from your prior investigation skills.
Aside from that, still enjoying the battle sequence. But I still can't say much for a storyline. I have yet to see one.

Devil May Cry: First Thoughts
Game starts as a girl is trying to kill you, stabs you with her own sword, and electrocuted you before tossing her motorcycle at you. "I am not your enemy, I came to ask for your help." -____- sure, bitch, I'm sure you did. First impressions and all. Then Dante actually trusts her immediately afterwords. Damn men, they are too trusting.
It took me a little while to realize that I was supposed to examine the door that was trying to kill me to input red stones. My mistake for trying to avoid that door at all costs.
The controls are ok, and the graphics aren't that bad. If course, after playing the 4th one first, the earlier graphics fail in comparison.
But so far, this game is not bad. One I finish it, I'll post a full review.

Devil May Cry 4, First Thoughts
First off, I can't deny that Nero has a nice ass. Just had to put that out there, reverse sexism, I know. But it should be ok, I'm a girl, and girls are allowed to be sexist. (O.o)
But my first thoughts was that the beginning of the game has a LOT of cutscenes. I mean, I guess the Zelda mentality of showing you that a cutscene of a door unlocking or a barrier breaking because you probably otherwise would never have figured it out is made for gamers who otherwise don't know this shit already. But for every door, kinda annoying.
The onlyother true criticism so far, is that I don't really understand where he is going, and why he is going. And why he is taking the route he is taking to get there. But I am sure that'll clear up later on... right?
The battle sequence (once you actually get the hang of it) is pretty awesome! I love games where you can actually hack and slash at the bad guys. It gives the game more action, and causes my adrenaline to rush faster, thus making gameplay a LOT more enjoyable.
The powerups might take a little getting used to, but I am not fully knowledgable of all the games semantics and what best to get at what times. But afterwords, I am sure I'll do well.
I guess it'll be harder as the game progresses, I know I picked Human, but I expected for KAPOW from the baddies.
I won't deny that I haven't played the first three DMC games yet, but if this game stays this enjoyable, the other two will definitely be arriving in the mail (I already have the third one from Steam *thumbs up* ).
I'll let you know my full review when I am done playing it!

Final Fantasy 7 on Steam is BULLSHIT!
I bought the game, thinking that all I had to do was download and play the game. But nope. I get sent to this pop-up screen where I either have to sign into my Facebook or my Square Enix account just to play the damn game I ALREADY downloaded for Steam! And to make matters worse, it is not accepting my Facebook account! So I have to make a whole account at Square Enix just to play the damn game!
I was going to return it, because I had no clue that I would have to go through all this just to play the damn game, but lo and behold, Steam has No Return Policy. Fuck.
I played this game as a kid, and I like the fact that all I had to do then to play the game was plop in a disc and go. Idk what the issue is with all of this pointless account creation just for one game, thing.
I love the game. I'll review it once I played it some more, but the whole act of actually getting to be able to play it is nonsense.
